Hello Margot fans! Just dropping by to you let you all know that Focus features have set a release date for Margot’s upcoming film “Mary, Queen of Scots”, where she plays opposite Saoirse Ronan. The limited release date is set for November 2, 2018 – read on for more information.

The biography drama MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS will have a November 2 2018 limited release. From artistic director of The Donmar Warehouse comes the story of Mary Stuart. The film is based on John Guy’s novel My Heart is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots which was adapted by Beau Willimon (The Ides of March, House of Cards)

The film stars Saoirse Ronan as the charismatic Mary Stuart, who became Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18. Instead of remarrying, Mary returns to her native home of Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie). Determined to be more than a figurehead, Marry asserts her claim to the throne against Elizabeth I. Betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies arise as they change the course of history.

Also starring is Guy Pearce, David Tennant, and Jack Lowden while Tim Bevan, Eric Felner and Debra Hayward produce. (Source)

Margot might be enjoying some deserved time off but that doesn’t mean the world wants you to forget about her. Variety broke the news yesterday that our favorite Aussie would be playing Queen Elizabeth in Mary Queen of Scots, and we’re very excited for this role (plus, she will be working with Saoirse Ronan)!

Margot Robbie is in negotiations to play Queen Elizabeth in Focus Features and Working Title’s “Mary Queen of Scots,” opposite Saoirse Ronan.

Josie Rourke is directing the film. Working Title’s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Deborah Hayward are producing.

“House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon is writing an original script based on a book by John Guy titled “The True Life of Mary Stuart.” “Mary” has yet to be greenlit, but sources say things are headed in the right direction. If greenlit, the film would likely go sometime later this year. Ronan will play the title role of Mary.

Following the success of big hits like “Suicide Squad” and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” this latest role gives the Australian-born Robbie a prestige part to add to her portfolio. It could also have awards season potential given Focus’ track record of pushing Oscar campaigns for its releases.

Robbie, 26, is currently starring in Fox Searchlight’s “Goodbye Christopher Robin,” where she plays the wife of “Winnie the Pooh” author A.A. Milne. She recently wrapped production on “I, Tonya” starring as the title character Tonya Harding in a film she also produced under her Lucky Chap Entertainment banner.
