Exciting news, Margot fans! About a week ago, it was reveled that a string of A-List actresses were considered for the role of Marian in an alternate Robin Hood universe tale. Actresses mentioned were Alicia Vikander, Jennifer Lawrence, Brie Larson, Daisy Ridley and more. Now it looks like Margot might just have snagged the role! Read on below for more information. We will update you once any new information on this project is available…
DEADLINE | It garnered a lot of interest, but when the dust cleared it was Sony that nailed the project for producers Donald De Line and Amy Pascal by pre-empting the spec Marian for actress Margot Robbie to star. A nice role for Robbie to show some more of her acting chops, this time in a serious and truly gritty turn. Think Braveheart meets Game of Thrones. Robbie’s label LuckyChap Entertainment is also producing, with Rock Shank, through his Romark Entertainment.
Scripted by newcomer Pete Barry, Marian is based on the character from the Robin Hood folklore. Here’s the storyline: After a conspiracy to conquer England in which the love of her life Robin Hood dies before her eyes, Marian picks up the cause to lead her people into a pivotal war. She comes to power, charging into a battle that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom but will see her don the mantle of the man she loved. In the process, she rises as a legend herself.
Robbie is currently at work on I, Tonya, the biopic about disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding that started shooting last month. Also on her plate is a further exploration of her Suicide Squad character in a project called Gotham City Sirens for Warner Bros. and director David Ayer — an all-female DC villains movie. In addition, she’s on two projects based on beloved characters from childhood books: Peter Rabbit at Sony/Columbia, a live-action/CGI hybrid feature based on Beatrix Potter’s classic characters, and Fox Searchlight’s untitled A.A. Milne project centered on Winnie the Pooh.
De Line and Steven Spielberg just produced the director’s Ready Player One for Warner Bros.; that comes out in March 2018. He also produced Zach Braff’s Going in Style from Oscar-nominated screenwriter Ted Melfi (Hidden Figures), which comes out next month. Pascal is working on a slew of projects, including Molly’s Game and the tentpole Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as a feature based on Mattel’s Barbie toy line.
Paradigm — which is going on what, eight spec sales in a row?– also sold this latest spec on behalf of Barry. The writer also is repped by manager Andrea Dimitty of Pannon Entertainment and attorney Jeff Frankel. Robbie and LuckyChap are repped by Management 360, CAA and attorney Jeff Bernstein; the actress additionally is repped by Aran Michael Management.
On September 29, our girl was a guest on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon ! They talked about her metal phase, being recognized by Neighbours fans on a Slipknot concert, managing her nerves going into hosting Saturday Night Live, and she and Jimmy got matching temporary tattoos (the drawing Margot made last time she was at the show – which you can check out here). As always, Margot was a pleasure to watch on the screen!
High quality stills and HD screen captures from the episode have today been added to our gallery. I have also added her full interview to our video archive, which you can watch here. Have fun watching!
Hello Margot fans! Our gallery has been updated with additional photos from three of Margot’s 2016 photoshoots. I particularly love the NY Times session – Margot looks stunning. Enjoy!
Hello Margot fans! I just finished adding another 20 photos of Margot behind the scenes of her Deep Euphoria Fragrance Advert for Calvin Klein to our gallery, and just, wow… I am actually speechless, so I’ll let the photos do the talking. Make sure to check them out in our gallery, and check out Neide’s post from yesterday if you haven’t seen the actual ad yet.
During the promotional tour for ‘Suicide Squad’, Margot has been repeatedly asked about her work out and diet programs. It seems people are very interested in finding out how she got in the shape needed to portray Harley Quinn… Food4BetterHealth has today posted an article about just this, and I decided to post it here since it seems to be of big interest for very many! You can read it below.
Getting in shape to play Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn required a lot of dedication on Margot Robbie’s part because she had to both look good in the bikini bottoms she pranced around in and in the stunts she had to perform.
The 26-year-old actress knew the role would require her to have a strong physique and that she would have to work out hard to get the right body. Margot Robbie’s workout routine consisted of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) as well as weight training.
She spent three weeks training hard for about three weeks a day while the movie was first being shot. Trainer Andie Hecker helped Robbie get into form through Pilates, ballet, and bulking cardio.
First up on the workout schedule was getting rid of traditional cardio machines and going for high-intensity interval training cardio circuits for an hour each time.
With a deep background in ballet, Hecker incorporated rebounders and balance balls into the Robbie’s workouts. The goal of the fast-paced workout is to constantly change things up, which taxes the body.
Some of the exercise Robbie did with Hecker in her cardio routine included: Trampoline and rebounder jumps, Leg rotations, Mountain climbers, Bosu ball hops, Double leg lifts, Outer thigh lifts. She would rest for a minute after each set and then repeat the set three to four times. The challenge to the body comes from going from one exercise to the next without stopping until the set is complete.
Along with these circuits, Robbie also does something called Ballet Bodies. The technique was developed by her trainer, who used to be a ballerina. Whenever Robbie is in Los Angeles, she makes sure to see Hecker for workouts. Robbie also loves to take dance classes when she can, and says they don’t feel like a workout at all.
Margot Robbie’s Diet
Robbie flat out says she hates to diet and she doesn’t really follow any particular diet regimen. She relies on exercise to keep her lean and in shape instead of limiting her food choices and depriving herself of the things she loves to eat.
However, like many stars, she does actively cut back on certain foods while filming a movie, but she has said that she gets miserable if she doesn’t eat. Eating a salad every day doesn’t work for her; neither does having just a half glass of red wine every other day.
One thing she won’t give up is the 10 cups of tea a day she has. Her favorite breakfast is avocado on toast with bacon. Clearly she eats what she wants and looks to burning off calories through hard physical workouts done regularly.
Suicide Squad has been in theaters since early August and is doing really well at the box office.
Another day, another ‘Suicide Squad’ promotion in Japan update! Even more photos of Margot’s photoshoot for Spur in Tokyo have been released, and we have added 5 pretty new photos to our gallery. Sadly the interview is once again in Japanese, but those who understand it can check it our here. We’re working to find a translation of all of Margot’s Japanese press articles, so hopefully we’ll have them in English soon. Enjoy the photos –
Margot’s upcoming thriller “Terminal”, produced by her own production company LuckyChap Entertainment (which you can read more about here), will be at TIFF – Highland Film Group, who handles the international sales for the film, will debut selected footage to potential buyers at the festival. Read more about it below! Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we now also have the first promotional picture for the film. Margot looks fierce!
The Hollywood Reporter – Highland Film Group is handling international sales and will debut select footage to buyers at TIFF. Margot Robbie is now wearing more hats. The Suicide Squad star not only stars in the upcoming thriller Terminal, but produced the film as well.
Here, The Hollywood Reporter debuts a first-look image from Vaughn Stein’s noir thriller, which features Robbie’s mysterious character standing with a cigarette.
The film, also starring Simon Pegg, Max Irons, Mike Myers and Dexter Fletcher, follows two hitmen who, while on a job, meet Robbie’s dynamic character — who may have more to do with their case than they initially thought.
Highland Film Group is handling international sales and screening select footage of the new film to buyers at the Toronto Film Festival while CAA is selling the U.S. rights.
David Barron of BeaglePug, Molly Hassell and Highland Film Groups’s Arianne Fraser produced the film alongside Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Sophia Kerr and Robbie under their LuckyChap Entertainment banner.
Terminal is Robbie’s first film as a producer. She’s also attached to star in and produce a Tonya Harding film called I, Tonya and a possible Harley Quinn spin-off movie for Warner Bros.
Since ‘Suicide Squad’ hits the theaters in Japan this weekend, we are finally getting a lot of photos and articles from the days Margot and her co-stars were in Tokyo (Around August 25)! Following the two new images from the ‘Spur’ Tokyo photoshoot we added yesterday, we have even more photos today. Once again the interviews are in Japanese, so if anyone are able to help us translate them, please get in touch. Original articles can be found here and here.
On August 25, the “Suicide Squad” premiered in Japan. For the occasion, Margot did a photo call and a couple of interviews in Tokyo before the big main event! Photos have began to surface, and I have added a few to our gallery; 4 of which are in HQ.
Since all the interviews are in Japanese, I am having difficulties translating them. If there’s anyone who could help, please get in touch! We would love to have these translated to English. A couple of points have been written below though, and hopefully we’ll have the full interviews soon. The two original articles/interviews can be found here and here. (Both in Japanese)
- Margot says she both could and wants to play the character Harley Quinn forever.
- When asked if she used any characters as “reference” when portraying Harley, Margot says she mostly used the original comics more than anything.
- She says one of the biggest issues with her sexy costume, was that it was very difficult to hide all her bruises in it. She did most of her stunts by herself, which resulted in a lot of marks on her body.
- Margot started preparing for the role 6 months before they started working, working out with a personal trainer every day, a jiu-jitsu trainer 3 times a week and gun-practice every other day.
- When asked about her beauty and work out routines, Margot states that after the tough training program ahead of this film, she doesn’t want to work out at all for a long time. But she still has to, as she’s playing sktater Tonya Harding up next, and needs to be in shape for it. She does not follow any restricted diets, though.
Hello Margot fans! Thanks to my friend Jenna, our gallery has now been updated with two additional outtakes from the ‘Spur’ Tokyo photoshoot Margot did while they were promoting ‘Suicide Squad’ in Japan. I have also replaced one of our previous photos with one in better quality. She was photographed by Masakazu Sugino, and she looked fantastic! You can find all 4 images in our gallery…
